about

This was my first time facilitating/performing a sound bath. This differs from my other performances in that I centered the piece around a binural beat (285hz) which is supposed to aid in healing tissue and boosting the immune system. It was also a "sound bath" in that the stated intention of the music was to allow listeners to enter into a state of deep rest and healing. The performance took place in a low lit, warm, and cozy space called the Well in Asheville, North Carolina. Participants bundled up in blankets and laid out on mats or on the carpet while the sound bath took place. The sound bath lasted for 1.5 hours (I had forgotten to hit record until about 10 minutes into the performance, hence the track time).

A singing bowl was played for about 5 minutes or so at the beginning and end of the piece. This is not in the recording as I was only recording the direct output from my board. However, you can still hear the sounds of the bowl being sampled, which was used as an additional layer of sound while the singing bowl was being struck.

I hope that this piece may offer you a space to deeply rest in.
